First rehearsal held for polling staff in all assembly segments
Ludhiana, May 5
The first rehearsal for polling personnel to be deployed at 2921 polling booths in Ludhiana held on Sunday at the level of all assembly segments.
A total of 17962 officials are to be deployed in the 2921 polling booths in Ludhiana Parliamentary Constituency. Each booth level team under the presiding officer consists of a five-member staff who will have a task to ensure smooth conduct of elections at their respective polling booth.
District Election Officer Sakshi Sawhney asked the poll staff to discharge their duties with utmost dedication and sincerity to ensure that entire poll process gets completed peacefully and in a transparent manner. She told the polling staff to ensure that people are able to exercise their right to franchise in a fair manner on polling day (June 1).
Giving the examples of several remote areas in India where polling staff and Election Commission work very hard for conducting the polls, Sawhney said that this work was easy in Punjab where infrastructure and structural developments facilitate the polling staff in performing the poll duty efficaciously.
She said that all of them were fortunate to be part of government machinery entrusted with the task of conducting the elections.
The rehearsals were held under the supervision of Assistant Returning Officers.
